Seyi Vibez was born on July 12, 1995, in Ketu, Lagos State, but he grew up in the Ikorodu area of Lagos. His upbringing in these vibrant and tough neighborhoods profoundly influenced his musical style and lyrical content. He developed a passion for music from a young age, drawing inspiration from the sounds and stories of his environment.
Seyi Vibez began his music career by performing at local carnivals and events in Ikorodu, where he started to build a grassroots following. He gained initial recognition with the release of his single "God Sent" in 2021, which showcased his distinct vocal style and heartfelt lyrics.
However, his career experienced a meteoric rise in 2022. He achieved a major breakthrough with the release of his hit single "Chance (Na Ham)," which became a massive commercial success and a viral anthem on social media. This track, along with his consistent release of other popular songs, solidified his position as one of the most exciting new voices in Nigerian music.
Following his breakthrough, Seyi Vibez embarked on an incredibly prolific run, releasing multiple projects in a short period. In late 2022, he released his debut studio album, "Billion Dollar Baby." The album was a huge success, producing several hit tracks, including "Chance," "+234," and "Bullion Van." He quickly followed this up with a deluxe version, "Billion Dollar Baby 2.0," which continued his chart dominance.
In 2023, he maintained his momentum by releasing two more projects: the EP "Memory Card" and his sophomore album, "Thy Kingdom Come." This remarkable output of music, all of which was well-received, demonstrated his incredible work ethic and creative energy.
Seyi Vibez's music is known for its unique fusion of contemporary street-hop with traditional and spiritual elements. This is evident in his melodic choices, vocal delivery, and the use of Islamic-inspired chants and ad-libs.
His lyrics often explore themes of hustle, spirituality, gratitude, and street life, delivered in a mix of Yoruba and Pidgin English. This authentic and relatable storytelling, combined with his distinctive, reverberating vocal style, has allowed him to connect deeply with a large and dedicated fanbase. He is often praised for bringing a fresh, spiritual dimension to the Nigerian street-hop scene.
