Early Life and Background

Odumodublvck was born on October 18, 1993, in Lagos, Nigeria, but he moved to Abuja with his family at the age of seven. He is of Delta State origin. Growing up in the capital city, he was exposed to a diverse range of cultural and musical influences. He attended Christ the King College in Gwagwalada, Abuja, and later studied Mass Communication at the University of Lagos.

His stage name is a combination of "Odumodu," a name given to him by his friends, and "blvck," which he has said represents his identity and struggle as a black man.

Career Beginnings

Odumodublvck's journey into music began during his junior secondary school days. He started his career as part of the hip-hop group Anti-World Gangsters. He gained some initial buzz in the Abuja underground rap scene, known for his energetic performances and raw lyrical content.

He released several projects independently, including the mixtapes T.A.B.S (To All Blvcksheep) and the collaborative EP The Trenches with B.O.C Madaki. He also released the EP Time & Chance in 2021. Throughout this period, he built a cult following, particularly in Abuja, where he is considered a local hero.

Breakthrough and Mainstream Success

Odumodublvck's career reached a major turning point in 2022 after he signed a record deal with NATIVE Records, in partnership with Def Jam Recordings. This deal provided him with a larger platform to showcase his talent.

His mainstream breakthrough came with the release of the single "Picanto," featuring Zlatan and Ecko Miles. However, it was his 2023 single, "Declan Rice," that catapulted him to national stardom. The song, named after the English footballer, became a viral sensation and a chart-topping anthem. Its success was so significant that Declan Rice himself acknowledged the track, further boosting Odumodublvck's international profile.

Eziokwu Mixtape and Artistry

In 2023, he released his highly anticipated mixtape, "Eziokwu," which translates to "Truth" in the Igbo language. The project was a massive commercial and critical success, featuring an all-star lineup of artists, including Fireboy DML, Blaqbonez, Wale, and a standout collaboration with Shallipopi on the hit track "Cast." He later released a deluxe version, "Eziokwu (Uncut)."

Odumodublvck is known for his signature "Okpu Agu" (leopard's head) hat, which is a symbol of Igbo culture representing strength and courage. His music is characterized by its hard-hitting beats, aggressive delivery, and clever, often humorous, punchlines. His lyrics touch on themes of struggle, ambition, and street reality, all delivered with an unapologetic confidence that has made him a powerful and unique voice in the African music landscape.
