Ayo Maff was born on March 2, 2004. He grew up in the Alagbado area of Lagos State. Before his rise to fame, he was a student and a barber, honing his craft while working.

His life changed dramatically after a freestyle video he recorded went viral on social media. In the video, he was seen giving a haircut while singing a heartfelt, melodious tune. The clip quickly captured the attention of thousands, including the prominent Nigerian rapper and label owner, Naira Marley. Impressed by his raw talent and distinct sound, Naira Marley reached out to him.

Career Breakthrough and Marlian Music

In April 2024, Ayo Maff was officially signed to Marlian Music, the record label founded by Naira Marley. This signing marked his official entry into the mainstream music industry.

His breakthrough came with the release of his debut single, "Dealer." The song was a massive commercial success, resonating with a wide audience and dominating the charts in Nigeria. The track showcased his signature style: a blend of Fuji-inspired inflections, street-hop, and soulful melodies. The song's hook and relatable lyrics made it a viral sensation, particularly on platforms like TikTok.

Following the huge success of "Dealer," he released a remix featuring the popular singer Fireboy DML, which further expanded his reach and solidified his position as one of Nigeria's most promising new artists.
