He began composing his own songs and performing at various shows and school events while still a teenager. He attended a university in Lagos State for his tertiary education.
Music Career
Ruger's career took a significant turn when he was discovered by renowned Nigerian record producer and executive, D'Prince. Impressed by Ruger's raw talent and unique style, D'Prince began mentoring him. He was introduced to the world with the single "One Shirt," which featured both D'Prince and fellow labelmate Rema. However, it was his debut solo single, "Ruger," that truly established his arrival.
Later in 2021, he released his debut EP, "Pandemic." The project's lead single, "Bounce," became a colossal hit, dominating charts across Nigeria and Africa and catapulting him into the mainstream. The song's infectious dancehall rhythm and Ruger's charismatic delivery made it one of the biggest songs of the year.
He followed this success with a second EP, "The Second Wave," also in 2021. This project featured the hit singles "Dior" and "Girlfriend," which further solidified his signature sound and his status as a hitmaker. His unapologetic lyrics and distinct visual identity set him apart in the competitive Afrobeats landscape.
In 2023, Ruger released his debut studio album, "RU The World?," which showcased his artistic growth and featured the popular track "Asiwaju."
